The proposed development seeks to ensure that Falkirk and the wider region has essential infrastructure to sustainably manage residual waste beyond the forthcoming ban on landfilling biodegradable waste from January 2025 (Waste (Scotland) Regulations 2012 and subsequent ministerial statement September 2019). The facility will contribute towards sustainable waste management, extracting the maximum value and use from waste and fostering energy savings in accordance with the principles of the circular economy.
