ICDP were appointed to design two connected dwellings within some existing traditional farm buildings. The original buildings featured a two storey farmhouse, a stable block and a kennels block all connected to form a U-shaped plan. The stables block has been transformed into a self contained dwelling with a shared access through a new porch. The second dwelling encompasses the existing farmhouse and the kennels wing and features some fantastic double height spaces. The design takes advantage of the views over the countryside with the addition of large glazed elements in the bedrooms and kitchen space. The traditional form and materials have been retained, while some modern elements have been added creating a blend of styles in keeping with the surrounding landscape.
