Falloch Chalet Development
Ardlui, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park
A new development of distinctive, luxurious and sustainable chalets is proposed on the banks of the River Falloch, just North of Ardlui. The aim of the proposal is to provide high quality accommodation for the family market and to provide a unique visitor experience. One of the key design decisions was to raise the chalets to create a treehouse feel, to enhance the tourist experience, and create barrier-free, level-access throughout the development via ramped and raised walkways. The raised chalets will provide elevated views down the River Falloch to Loch Lomond, and to the adjacent Geal Loch and the surrounding hills including the peak Cnap Mor.
The proposal comprises a mixture of 4 chalet types, visually linked by a shared palette of materials, likely timber cladding with standing seam/profiled metal roofs of a subtle muted red shade, and frameless glass balustrades. Each chalet type features a distinctive and unique design style, between the large overhanging mono-pitch roofs of Types 2&4, against the A-Frame profile of Type 1 and the dual-pitch roofs of Type 3.
The proposal also features on site parking, a managers office and a children's playground for visitors to the chalets.
